Connecticut Governor. He went into his father's business and became president of the Holley Manufacturing Company, in 1854. He also was president of the Salisbury Iron Bank, director of the Connecticut Western Railroad and served as division inspector in the Connecticut State Militia. He was 25th Lieutenant Governor of Connecticut, serving (1854-55) and elected as a Whig the 40th Governor of Connecticut, serving (1857-58). Not being re-nominated, he retired from public service and resumed his position at the Holley Manufacturing Company until his death.
