Linda Darlene Wilkerson, 69, of Marble Hill, Mo., passed away April 13, 2022, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau, Mo., following a short and unexpected fight with cancer.
Born near Neeley's Landing (Jackson), Mo., on February 5, 1953, she was the daughter of Edwin Ray and Elizabeth McClard Hodge. On September 2, 1972, she and Mac Wilkerson were married. Mac preceded her in death on January 4, 2022, after over 49 years together.
Linda loved flowers and gardening. She watched the programs, Swamp People, Ghost Hunters and Paranormal with great enjoyment. Her family remembers her favorite foods were banana pudding and German Chocolate cake.
She worked outside the home as a nurses aide, with Deal Nursing Home her last job. She was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include five children: Eddie (Amanda) Wilkerson of Jackson, and James Wilkerson, Elizabeth (Michael) Turbeville and Onitra Wilkerson (Steven Jones), of Marble Hill, Brenda Lasinski of Michigan, and a grandson she and Mac raised, Jacob Wilkerson; a sister, Shirlene Shanks of Marble Hill; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. She will be greatly missed by her two dogs, Abby and Coco.
Along with her husband she is predeceased by two brothers, Lindel Hodge and Garry Hodge.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at Hutchings Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until noon. Funeral services will begin at noon with the Rev. Jason Hargraves officiating. Burial will follow in Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be accepted for funeral expenses.
