Mrs. Lewis, a native of Pennsylvania, had made Augusta her home for most of her adult life, and was the daughter of the late Edith Mars and George Krause. Mrs. Lewis had a long and rewarding career as both a History and French teacher beginning at her home town high school – Tamaqua High School, Tamaqua, PA where she also directed the Drum and Bugle Corp. Later she continued to enrich the lives of students at Augusta Christian Schools in Martinez, GA for over twenty years until her retirement. She was an active member of the teaching sorority Alpha Delta Kappa and was also an active member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She had been a longtime member of First American Baptist Church and was more recently a member of The Hill Baptist Church. At both churches she enjoyed teaching Sunday School classes to members both young and old. She was a loving mother and grandmother who enjoyed knitting sweaters for her family. She was an avid bridge player, and she especially loved to research Civil War history through travel and reading.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Krause.
Survivors include her daughter and son-in-law, Anna and Stephen Muza; her grandchildren, Phillip Andrew Greiner, Kyle Douglas Greiner and his wife Jessica Tang, and Hannah Olivia Muza; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
