Ann was born on July 5th, 1934 to Ralph and Margaret McGovern and passed away unexpectedly after a brief illness on February 7, 2017. She was born in Spokane WA and spent the early years of her life in Phoenix Arizona.

Following the death of both her parents when she was 12, she, along with her younger brother Jimmy, lived with relatives before leaving Arizona and eventually settling with family in Coeur d'Alene Idaho. She went on to attend and graduate from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy where she was also a cheerleader. In 1954 while working at the Hayden Lake Country Club she met Bob Codd who would later become her husband and the love of her life. After initially turning him down twice Ann finally agreed to go on a date with Bob and so began their beautiful life together which included 60 years of marriage, six children and many happy times and memories.

In addition to being a wife and mother, Ann was a member of the Junior League of Spokane, a parishioner at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and belonged to Manito Country Club. Ann worked for American Greetings for many years where she could be found stocking cards in Spokane grocery stores chatting with nearly everyone that passed by. Ann loved people and was blessed with the very special gift of always finding the good in everyone she met. Whether you met her once or were a life time friend you always felt better about life after spending time with her. She valued her many friends, was very close to her younger brother Jimmy and proud of her children and grandchildren. On February 7th Ann left us to join her soulmate Bob who passed away last November. We will always cherish the time we had with her and never forget her warm and welcoming spirit, genuine kindness and selfless love.

Ann is preceded in death by her parents Ralph and Margaret McGovern; her sister Patricia Flood; her son James Codd and her husband Robert Codd. She is survived by her brother James McGovern (Clare), cousin Mary Heath (John), son Nick Codd (Sernya), daughters Molly Benzel (Ron), Peggy Clark (Steve), Kathleen Codd, son Christopher Codd (Joy) and 10 grandchildren; Jenny Bernard (Andrew), Erik and Cody Benzel, Joseph and Megan Codd, Annie and Andrew Clark, Justin Stewart, Katie and Ellie Codd; and two great- grandkids, Hank and Jack Bernard.

Funeral services will be held at Our Lady of Fatima Church on Friday, February 24th, 2017 at 10:00am. A reception immediately follows at Manito Golf and Country Club
