OBITUARY:
DIED--At 7 o'clock p.m. April 24th 1884 at his home in South Salem, Clarence Godfrey expired. For sometime past he had been afflicted with consumption, and his death was therefore not altogether unexpected. The funeral will take place today at 11 o'clock at the home of his mother.

LAID to REST -- The funeral obsequies of the late Clarence Godfrey were performed yesterday by many sorrowing friends of the young man, who had only reached his 23rd year. The services were conducted by Rev. O. Dickinson at the home of the deceased, in South Salem. His remains were laid to rest in the Odd Fellows' Cemetery. Clarence was a young man well liked and esteemed by all who knew him. His youth, alas, was blighted by consumption. Life is but the melody of a lyre, sounding and crying, and for each and all of us Time's veil will let through eternity.
