OBITUARY
Mrs. Emerine Higdon, the daughter of Aaron and Cassie Andrew Culver, was born July 1, 1833, in Ripley county. Her peaceful departure was late in the afternoon of Saturday, Dec. 30, 1922. She would have been 90 years old the first day of next July.
In 1849, Nov. 11th, she was united in marriage to William Higdon. There came to bless this home one daughter, who is now Mrs. Cassie Ray, with whom she made her home for the greater part of 18 years, the last nine of which she has spent with her daughter entirely.
Prior to Mrs. Higdon's death there were five living generations in her family: Mrs. Higdon; Mrs. Ray, the daughter; Mrs. Sam Riley, granddaughter; Harry C. (sic) Tingle, great-grandson; and Mae Louise Tingle, great-great-granddaughter.
Mrs. Higdon united with the Christian church at Napoleon in 1849, and was a charter member of the Newpoint Christian church which was organized in 1869. Her long life of Christian services is a benediction to the world.
