Thelma L. Strickland was born in Pensacola, Florida, on February 26, 1947, the daughter of Ocie P. Shurette & Maggie L. Rigby-Shurette. She passed away on October 1, 2022, at HCA Florida Fort Walton-Destin Hospital.
Thelma married the love of her life, William L. Strickland in July of 1965 and had one son. Their journey together lasted 43 years until his death on May 24, 2008.
Thelma is survived by her son, William L. Strickland Jr., and her three grandchildren Michelle, Andrea, and David.
Thelma experienced a lot of challenges throughout her life but always prevailed with the help of her family. Although there were times that proved interesting, She loved her son and grandchildren with all her heart and expressed her love in ways only she could. Thelma had the heart of a Saint and loved helping family and friends. She kept in touch with everyone as she could, especially the ones she felt close to.
Thelma will have a small private family viewing at the Emerald Coast Funeral Home. At her request, she will be cremated and transported at a later date to be buried with her late husband, William L. Strickland, at Pensacola NAS, Barrancas National Cemetery.
