James Lacy Hamilton, left his body at age 87 in the loving care of his family on May 27, 2022 in Austin, Texas.

Lacy was born July 8, 1934 in Gadsden, Alabama to Dorothy Lolita Smith Hamilton and James Russell Hamilton. He graduated from Louisiana State University in 1960 thanks to the GI Bill and spent over five decades as a petroleum engineer, including serving as founder and President of Hamilton Engineering, Inc. His success was matched by his generosity. He found joy in sharing his abundance and was committed to supporting several charities, but also helped individuals in need, often giving anonymously and spontaneously.

He loved art, poetry, music, and travel. But, most importantly, he loved to share these passions with his friends and family. He loved to be the host and making sure everyone around him was happy and celebrating life with him.

He was predeceased by his parents and former first wife, Anna Faye Moore Hamilton.

He is survived by his daughter, Anna Claire Hamilton; grandchild, Wynkoop Russell Hamilton Kiersted; former wife, Sheila J. Stowe Hamilton (to whom he married on December 29, 1990 in Houston, Texas); two brothers, Jerry Jarmin Hamilton and Judson Carey Hamilton; step-family, in-laws and many beloved nieces and nephews.
