Robert L. Bickett was born July 26, 1933 to John P. and Elvira (Olson) Bickett. Robert was the 9th of 12 children and raised on the family farm north and west of Beresford. Robert received his education at Mount Hope rural school up through the eighth grade.

He farmed with his father and brothers until his father's death. At that time the farm was sold and Bob moved to Beresford. There he owned a home, did a variety of work and maintained two huge gardens during the summers.

Robert married Janet Bellows in 1984, however, she tragically died from diabetic complications just two weeks later. He never married again, as testament to his enduring feelings toward her.

In 1992 Robert fell on the ice and required hip surgery. After a month at McKennan Hospital he moved to the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Centerville where he remained for the rest of his days. The staff remember him as being talkative and friendly, as well as having a good mind for dates and names. Bob watched many changes to the facility over the years. He had several roommates and was known to share his love of music. Bob could be heard through the home playing his harmonica, the piano or organ, singing "Red Solo Cup" or other favorite songs. He also enjoyed puzzles, good food and especially visiting with others. Bob will be remembered for his light-hearted laughter and joking nature.

He is survived by two sisters, Lillian Biehl of Plymouth, MN and Irene Latendresse of Camden, TN; his brother, Gerald Bickett of Lebanon, OR; and many nieces, nephews and their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Janet; four sisters, Bernice Jorgensen, Adeline McIlvenna, Marie Gorman and Dorothy Kirby; four brothers, Milford, Raymond, John and Bernard Bickett.
