She was born Dec. 30, 1918, in Mooresville, Ind., the daughter of Richard R. and Florence A. Slick Whalen. She was a graduate of Southport High School. She was a former resident of Indianapolis, who resided in Greensburg for several years, and was a sales representative for Avon and Bee Line Clothing.
She was the widow of Cecil W. Shutters, who died July 24, 1984. She is survived by seven sons, Dick Shutters, Ocala, Fla., Mike Shutters, Milwaukee, Wis., Tom Shutters, Indianapolis, Phil Shutters, Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Terry Shutters, Atlanta, Ga., Kevin Shutters, Stoughton, Wis., Jerry Shutters, Atlanta, Ga., two daughters, Linda Williams, Greenwood, Ind., and Annette Sweat, Atlanta, Ga.; two brothers, Vernon Whalen, Camino, Calif., and Bob Whalen, Morgantown, Ind.; one sister, Mary Clampitt, Indianapolis; 16 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Patrick Shutters, who was killed in Vietnam, and by one sister, Betty Pfeiffer.
She was a member of the St. Mary's Catholic Church, Greensburg, where services will be Saturday.
Local arrangements were handled by the Porter-Oliger-Pearson Funeral Home, Greensburg.
