Betty Joyce Collins of Garland, Texas gained her angel wings on June 1, 2022, at the age of 85. Her final days were spent surrounded by her family. Betty was born on September 20, 1936, to Leahman E. Summers and Thelma Agnus (Pyron) Summers in Lancaster, Texas. Betty married Billy J. Reaves on October 6, 1956, in Allen, Texas. To this marriage there were two children born: Elizabeth Ann Reaves and Rebecca Leah Reaves. Betty and Billy divorced in 1968, and she was raising her two girls when God sent a wonderful man and children into their lives. Betty met John Mark Collins who was raising his two children, Mark Russell Collins and Carianna Collins, after being left a widow. They got married on June 6, 1969, in Garland, Texas bringing the two families together. In 1970, her family was complete with the birth of John Allen Collins.

Betty was an active member of Lavon Drive Baptist Church, and along with John they raised their family in a Christian home. Her interests included church, family, sewing, family trips, and sending homemade cards to family for birthdays, anniversaries, etc. (Betty's cards brightened the day of the person because they knew it was made from love.) Her dog, Freddie, was another love in her life until she was not able to care for him anymore.

Betty was a loving wife and wonderful mother to five children keeping the home going.

Betty is survived by her 5 children; Elizabeth Hale of Garland, Texas, Rebecca Brooks and husband, Kevin Brooks of Bowie, Texas, Mark Collins and wife, Paula Collins of San Antonio, Texas, Carianna Price and husband, Phillip Price of Lebanon, Tennessee, and John Collins and wife, Jamie Collins of East Tawas, Michigan; 13 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Betty was preceded in death by her husband, John Mark Collins; by her parents, Leahman and Thelma Summers; one brother, Thomas Leahman Summers; two sisters, Pasty Kay Clark and Jimmie Nell Wright; and one granddaughter, Stacy Blake.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, June 18, 2022, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Funeral Home Chapel, 2525 Central Expressway North, Allen, Texas 75013. Interment will follow at Allen Cemetery in Allen, Texas.
