Graham was born December 22, 1929 in Max Meadows, Virginia, the son of the late James Edward King and Lillian Grace Keith King. He received his education in the Wytheville, Virginia School System and served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War Conflict. Graham was married June 30, 1950 to Evelyn Stone King who preceded him in death on October 31, 2020.
Mr. King was employed as a trucking safety director for many years before his retirement. Following his retirement, he was employed at Peebles Funeral Home in Somerville. He was a born-again Christian who was a member of the former New Life Baptist Church in Williston, Tennessee. Mr. King was active in his community and assisted many churches with revivals. He enjoyed woodworking, building, hunting and RV camping.
Mr. King is survived by two sons, Graham R. "Nick" King, II (Renita Bence) of Bartlett, TN and James F. "Jeff" King (Lisa Jean) of Bartlett, TN; two grandchildren, Nicholas King (Brittany Lea King) and Jennifer King Sage; and five great-grandchildren, Olivia Rhodes, Gracie Rhodes, Addison King, Davis Sage and Garrett King.
In addition to his wife and parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Isley Quesenberry.
Graveside Services with Military Honors for Mr. King will be held at 3 P.M. Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Fayette County Memorial Park Cemetery on Highway 64 with Bro. Eddie Little, pastor of Hickory Withe Baptist Church, officiating.
The family requests that memorials be directed to Liberty University, 1971 University Boulevard, Lynchburg, VA 24515.
