Darlene Duyck Gage, 80, a resident of the Cornelius community passed away in October 4, 2022 at her home.

Darlene was born on July 21, 1942 in Roseville, CA. She was the eighth of ten children born to Acie Obediah and Jessie (Seymour) Owens. She moved to Forest Grove with her family when she was a young girl. She attended Forest Grove High School.

She met, Monty Duyck, by chance while walking home from school. They soon began dating and they married on January 7, 1961 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Forest Grove. They began their life together in Forest Grove and moved to Monty's family farm in Roy in 1965. Here they built a home and had four children; Tina, Danny, Patrick and Robyn. Monty passed away on April 5, 1998. Darlene continued to live in her home in Roy and met Gary Gage at a Halloween Party he was throwing at his home. They both had an interest in ballroom dancing and they began taking dancing lessons. This grew into a relationship and they married on September 14, 2002 at St Francis Catholic Church in Roy. Gary brought two more children in to Darlene's life, Chris and Karen.

Darlene was a loving and devoted mother to her children and grandchildren. When her family was young Darlene made sure they were dressed and well groomed. She had volunteered with various church functions and a room mother. She was always present and participated in all her children's activities. This devotion continued to all of her twelve grandchildren and six great grandchildren. Darlene also worked outside the home as a dental assistant for Don Henderson DMD. She enjoyed painting, gardening, camping and fishing. She was an accomplished cook and baker and enjoyed family gatherings around a big dinner. She loved to celebrate everybody's birthday and made it a point to make you feel special. She was a world traveler, visiting Europe, including, Germany France and Italy. She cruised to the Caribbean on dance cruise with her husband Gary. She was always a busy person never to sit still and was always willing to help others. Darlene and Gary shared a love of dancing and would take lessons one day a week and would dance three more days at various ballrooms and Cha Cha Bars in the Portland Metro areas. Darlene was a quiet and personable person always kind and thoughtful.
