Brad Ward, age 53, Boone, died at his home on February 1, 2008.

Brad was born on October 14, 1954, in Watertown, South Dakota, the son of Leon and Elaine (Olson) Ward.

He graduated from West Sioux Community School in Hawarden, Iowa, in 1973.

On April 19, 1975, he married Lynette Blankenship in Ames. The couple later divorced.

He was employed as a signalman for the Chicago Northwestern Railway and then the Union Pacific Railroad for 27 years from April of 1974 to August of 2001. He retired in 2001 due to a disability.

Brad was a member of the Brotherhood of Railroad Signalmen for 27 years.

Brad enjoyed hunting and fishing, playing guitar, riding his '78 Harley motorcycle, computers, and socializing with friends and family.

Brad is preceded in death by his parents and a son, Grant.

He is survived by a son, Tyler Ward and his wife Jayme and a granddaughter, Samiya Ward, performing missionary work in central Asia; four sisters, Cheryl Lewno of Castlewood, South Dakota, Susan Kittelson and husband Bruce of Clear Lake, South Dakota, Lana Cameron and husband Mike of Herreid, South Dakota, and Wendy Carr and husband Bob of Lancaster, Missouri; his former wife, Lynette Farnham of Ames; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.

Funeral services will be Thursday, February 7, 2008, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone with Rev. Dan Solomon officiating. Burial will be in the Linwood Park Cemetery in Boone.
