Robbie Marie “Bet” Pemberton Burton of Chickamauga died Wednesday, April 30, 2008. She was 78.

She was a native of Jackson County, Ala., but lived most of her life in Chattanooga, Tenn., and the past 12 years in Chickamauga. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir, and was employed for many years at Mountain Creek Elementary School and Pro-Golf in North Chattanooga.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dee Earl Burton; parents, Roy and Mildred Pemberton.

Survivors include her children, Delaine Burton of Knoxville, Tenn., Kathy Housley of Chickamauga, Wendell Burton of Rossville, Alfred Burton of Rainsville, Ala., Alvin Burton of Ringgold, Anthony Burton of Chattanooga, Eddie Burton of Etowah, Tenn.; brothers, Pete Pemberton of Lookout Mountain, Ronald Pemberton of Chattanooga Valley; sisters, Wanda Pemberton of Florida, Rose Mae Dutton of Elberton, Ruth Lester of Flintstone; several grand and great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.

Services: Monday, May 5, at 1 p.m. at the funeral home chapel with Rev. Mike Angel officiating. Burial: Chattanooga Memorial Park. Visitation: Sunday, May 4, from noon to 8 p.m. at the funeral home chapel. Condolences may be sent at www.lane-southcrestchapel.com.
