Ida Mae (Thompson) Johnson believed God's word "The Holy Bible" where Jesus stated in John 14:6 "I am the way, the truth and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me." and at a young age accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior. God honored her decision as she lived a blessed life of 97 years. On July 2, 2021 Ida Mae became absent from her body and present with her Lord and Savior eternally. She was surrounded by the love of her family and friends at her passing.

Ida Mae resided in Virginia Beach all her adult life and worked many years bookkeeping before her retirement. She fellowshipped and held membership at London Bridge Baptist Church, First Colonial Baptist Church and Great Neck Baptist Church. The love she had for her church family brought her great joy and enriched her Christian faith.

A daughter of the late Charles W. Thompson and Ida (Pollok) Thompson, she was born in Keysville, VA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded to eternal life by her husband, Harold Edward Johnson, Sr.; son, Harold E. ("Ed') Johnson, Jr.; son, William Frederick ("Fred') Johnson; and sisters, Anne Loraine (Thompson) Smith and Jennie Rose (Thompson) Ramsey.
