Fred M. Alexander, 80, of Clarkston, died August 22, 2003, at his home. He was born August 10, 1923, in Rexton, to Mack M. and Mary (nee Goudreau) Alexander.
Mr. Alexander was a veteran of World War II in the U.S. Army. He retired from Grand Trunk Western Railroad as a locomotive engineer. He was a member of Our Lady of the Lakes Catholic Church and a regular usher for many years. He was also a life member of Sault Tribe of Chippewa Indians.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Agnes (nee Hynes) Alexander of Pontiac; a son-in-law, John Kimmins; two daughters and their families, Denise and Ray Adham of Waterford, Mary Beth and Bill Dianat of Houston, Texas; one son, Fred "Mack" Alexander Jr. of Houston. Texas; one grandson, Jason VanNorman; two granddaughters, Amanda Kimmins and Alexandria Dianat; four sisters and their families, Shirley and Bob Konle of Cut River, Mary Lou and Bill Hanson of Black River, Betty Smith of Rexton, and Mickey and Warren Bailey of Stanwood; three sisters-in-law and their families, Gail Alexander of Birch Run, Sally arid Leonard Valentine of St. Ignace, and Mary and Donald Girvin of Vero Beach, Florida; and extended family, Mike and Paula Sutterfield, several nieces and nephews, and the dog, Gizzy.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Peter in 1993, Terry "Pat" in 1994, and a sister, Alice "Sis" High, in 2001.
His daughter Patti died unexpectedly on Saturday, August 23 at her home in Sylvan Lake.
Visitation for Mr. Alexander and his daughter, Patti were held Monday, August 25 at the Coats Funeral Home in Waterford. Funeral mass for both was held Thursday, August 28, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Naubinway with Father Tim Hruska officiating. Burial will be in Epoufette Cemetery. Pallbearers will be members of his family.
