Esther Mae Hudson "Poola", of Hammond, IN, age 63, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2008. She was a Hammond resident for 45 years and formerly of Brighton, AL. She was the former First Lady of New Salem M.B. Church. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Charlie W. Hudson; two daughters: Mamie Lou Hudson and Linda M. Hudson; mother, Zeolar White; father, Willie J. White; and sister, Janice White. She is survived by three sons: Rev. Darrell (NaKesha) Hudson of Hammond, IN, Charles (Carla) Hudson of Lansing, IL and Melvin Richardson of Indianapolis, IN; two daughters: Paulette Hudson and MaShandra Hudson both of Hammond, IN; five sisters: Geraldean White and Katherine Herring, both of East Chicago, IN, Wanda Fae White, Willeana White and Cynthia White, all of Hammond, IN; one brother, Willie J. White of Hammond, IN; two sisters-in-law: Clara Martin of Canton, OH and Julia Hudson of Columbus, MS; ten grandchildren, five great grandchildren, two aunts, one uncle and a host of relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 1, 2008, at 11:00 a.m. at New Community M.B. Church, 5461 Calumet Ave., with Rev. Patrick Gillis officiating. Viewing will be the same day beginning at 9:00 a.m. with family hour at 10:00 a.m. Burial will take place at Concordia Cemetery.
