Lorene Cormack Rutland, 89, of Amarillo died Thursday, Sept. 23, 2004.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday in Polk Street United Methodist Church with Dr. James E. Garrett officiating. Entombment will be in Llano Cemetery by Schooler Funeral Home, 4100 S. Georgia St.

Mrs. Rutland was born in Jack County on Oct. 18, 1914, to Anna Belle and the Rev. Guy Shields. Mrs. Rutland moved to Amarillo at an early age and attended Buchanan Street School and graduated from Amarillo High School in 1933. She was employed by Mobil Oil for more than 25 years before her retirement. Mrs. Rutland was a member of Polk Street United Methodist Church and the Susies Sunday school class. She was also a member of Amarillo Senior Citizens and Ester McCrory chapter of the D.A.R. She was a past president of the Junior Business Women's Club and the Desk and Derrick Club. She married Jack Rutland in 1953 in Amarillo.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a son, Bill Cormack.

Survivors include a daughter, Janelle Raines and husband, Jerry, of Amarillo; four grandsons, Clay Cormack of Austin, Curtis Cormack and wife, Cheryl, of San Antonio, Lt. Commander Russ Raines and wife, Jennifer, of Atsugi, Japan, and Pvt. 1st Class Chris Cormack and wife, Jennifer, of Fort Hood; a daughter-in-law, Annita Cormack; a stepson, Gene Rutland of Killeen and his children, Kim, Guy and Gina; a stepdaughter, Patty Rutland Vaughn of Amarillo and her daughter, Paige; her very good friend, Dorothy Whitlock of Amarillo; and 11 great-grandchildren.
