CAMERON, Rodney L. - Rod passed away at his Petaluma residence on November 6, 2007. Loving husband of Anna Cameron of Petaluma. Devoted father of Eileen Cameron (Rob) Massa of Santa Rosa, Sandra Cameron (Jim) Wood of Eureka, Rhonda Cameron (Mark) Kaufmann, Richard James Cameron all of Forest Ranch, CA and the late Michael Cameron and Deanna Lewis. Grandfather of Courtney Massa, Brian Massa, Jayme Wood, James Wood, Jonathan Wood, Steven Kaufmann, Cierra Cameron, and Robby Cameron. Brother of August Cameron, Paul Cameron and the late Irwin "Tut" Cameron and Robert Rogers. Nephew of Jack and Nancy Cameron and brother-in-law of Pat Cameron. Rodney Lee Cameron was born on September 6, 1935 in Petaluma, CA. He was the second of three sons born to Gerald P. and Hilda Johnson Cameron. Rod's stepmother, Marie Cameron Winnard, raised the boys following their mother's death. Rod attended school in Petaluma, leaving prior to his graduation from high school to join the U.S. Marine Corps during the Korean War. Rod served honorably and achieved the rank of Sergeant. Following his military service, he returned to Petaluma where he met and married the former Patricia Snodgrass in August of 1958. Rod worked at the Petaluma Post Office for several years, then attended Heald Business College where he studied computer science. He worked as a data processing manager for Operating Engineers Local #3 in San Francisco for the remainder of his career, retiring in 2000. Rod married Anna A.E. Lewis in October of 1983. He was active in PTA, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, Little League, Girls Softball, the Order of the Rainbow for Girls, Pop Warner, McDowell Drug Task Force; Project Graduation at Casa Grande High School. For the last 10 years, Rod volunteered at Sacks Thrift Avenue, which benefits Hospice. Rod enjoyed bowling, square dancing, classic cars, shooting pool, playing cribbage and dominos, and assisting at Craig's Warehouse, building display shelves and tables. A Visitation will be held on Sunday, November 11, 2007 from 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. with at Vigil at 7:00p.m. at PARENT-SORENSEN MORTUARY AND CREMATORY, 850 Keokuk St., Petaluma. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, November 12th at 10:00 a.m. at Saint James Catholic Church, 125 Sonoma Mountain Parkway, Petaluma, CA. Burial will be at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Petaluma. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Assoc. of the Redwood Empire, 115 Talbot Ave., Santa Rosa or McDowell Drug Task Force.
