Don Douglas Bright, 74, of Salt Lake City, Utah died January 28, 2008 at home.

He was born Nov. 23, 1933 at St. Anthony, Idaho to Sarah Swensen Bright and Douglas D. Bright. He grew up and attended schools in St. Anthony where he graduated from High School in 1952. He commuted from St. Anthony to Idaho Falls, ID where he attended Henniger Business College. In 1955 he enlisted in the United States Army and served in Germany. He graduated from B.Y.U. in 1961 with a degree in Business and went to work for International Harvester in Salt Lake City for two years before joining Vince Mancini in 1963. He helped build the Mancini & Groesbeck Food Brokerage Company where he remained until retirement in 1993.

He loved to travel and had taken several trips to Europe. He flew on the Concorde during one of the first flights to France and returned to the United States on the Queen Mary II. He had a passion for working on real estate ventures with his long time partner and companion, Howard Amundsen.

He greatly enjoyed spending time with his family, friends and his dogs, Bichon, Tisha and Sweetie. Survivors include his mother, Sarah Bright of Idaho Falls, ID; his brother Bob (Judy) Bright of Idaho Falls, ID; his nieces and nephews, Dr. Robert Bright of Lubbuck, TX; Julianne (Jim) Hargrove of Bremerton, WA; Steven (Jodi) Bright of Edmond, OK; Mary (Alex) Constantino of Idaho Falls, ID; 12 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Douglas Bright, his niece Bonnie Bright, and his partner Howard Amundsen. Don had a love of life, and a kindness to others that was unsurpassed. He will be deeply missed, always loved and never forgotten. Don leaves behind many friends who he profoundly effected in his quiet way. He was our sounding board, our sage, and our constant cheerleader.

Funeral Services will be at 2 p.m., Fri. February 8, 2008 at the Larkin Mortuary, 260 South Temple, Salt Lake City, Utah. Interment will be in Teton Cemetery at a later date. A celebration of Don's life will follow at 259 N. State Street, Salt Lake City.
