SMITH, DELLA TERRY

Della Smith, age 96, of 171 Woodward Drive in Helenwood, died Tuesday, December 4, 2001.

She was born in Scott County on September 1, 1905, and was the daughter of the late Starlin Terry and Sarah Cotton Terry.

She also was preceded in death by her husband, Isaac Smith; one son, Russell Smith; two daughters: Bertie Smith and Rosa Lee West; three brothers: Howard, Lawrence and Woodrow Terry; three sisters, Myrtle Cross, Rose Ellis and Ella Acres; one grandson and two great-grandsons. She was the oldest member of the Tunnell Hill Baptist Church.

She is survived by four daughters: Mildred Wright of Cincinnati, Ohio; Ruby Mays of Mt. Carmel, Ohio; Charlene Posey of Helenwood; and Phyllis Noble of Cincinnati; four sons: Clifford and Herbert Smith of Helenwood; Millard Smith of the Pine Hill community; and Hezkiah Smith of Oneida; 36 grandchildren; 49 great-grandchildren; and 20 greatgreat-grandchildren; one brother, Lonnie Terry; a special granddaughter, Ruthie Blevins, and a special niece, Charity Phillips; and several nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Funeral services were held Friday in the chapel of West – Murley Funeral Home with Rev. Jennings Terry and Rev. Larry Ellis officiating. Burial was in the Hazel Valley Cemetery.
