Ewen Newport, 88, of Cross Street in Oneida, passed away in the Parkwood Nursing Home in Chattanooga, Tenn. Sunday evening. He was the son of the late Alvison Newport and the late Mary Long Newport, a member of the First Baptist Church in Oneida, a veteran of World War I. Survivors: wife: Mrs. Nora Newport of Oneida; two sons: Ewen Newport Jr. of Chattanooga, Tenn., Hubert Newport of Muncie, Indiana, three daughters: Mrs. Tyra C. Hardin of Chattanooga, Tenn., Mrs. Stephen D. Reynolds of Clinton, Tenn., Mrs. G.E. Wilson of Capital Heights, Md., sister: Mrs. Area Terry of Danville, Ky., seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren. Funeral services were conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oneida, 2 p.m. Wednesday March 10, with Rev. Roy Blevins and brother G.W. Summers officiating. Burial in the Hazel Valley Cemetery.
