Lassie Trammell Lovett, 82, of Lovett St. Oneida, passed away Tuesday afternoon, June 8, at the Scott County Hospital following a lingering illness. She joined the Jellico Creek Baptist Church at the age of 15 and moved her membership to the Pentecost Baptist Church in 1936 where she remained a member until her death. She was the daughter of the late William Trammell and the late Emma Long Trammell, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James R. Lovett; one son, James Monroe Lovett; three sisters: Nancy Hayes, Flora Lovett, and Hester Lovett; and 8 brothers: Jimmy, Albert, Mitchell, Dennis, Leonard, Hubert, Hiram, and Kaywood Trammell. Mrs. Lovett is survived by two daughters: Mrs. Harry G. (Cora) Carson and Doris Lovett, both of Oneida; one granddaughter, Mrs. James (Betty Sue) Posey of Oneida; three grandsons: James M. Lovett, Jr., and Kermit Lee Carson, both of Oneida, and David Gordon Carson of Nashville; two sisters: Tasie Clark of Louisville, Ky., and Salena Douglas of Winfield; two brothers: Jarvis Trammell of Louisville, Ky., and Haywood Trammell of Pine Knot, Ky.; 12 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Friday, June 11, at the Pentecost Baptist Church, with Rev. James Laxton officiating. The Pentecost Baptist Church Choir and Kermit Carson Family sang. Burial was in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. Pallbearers were: Kermit Carson, David Gordon Carson, Payne M. Lovett, James Clifton Lovett, James E. Posey, Jr., and Terence Jerome Posey.
