Rev. Abraham (Abe) Jeffers, age 96, of 110 Cherry Street, Oneida, passed away Monday morning, December 13th, at the Scott County Hospital following a lengthy illness. He was the beloved son of the late Marion "Merk" Jeffers and the late Mary Jane "Reynolds" Jeffers. He was a member of the West Oneida Baptist Church. He is survived by his wife: Mrs. Stella "Thompson" Jeffers; three daughters: Mrs. Charlsie Crowley of Huntsville, Mrs. Texie Thompson of Oneida, and Mrs. Marie Lawson of Union, Kentucky; three sons: Ezra Jeffers and Elmer Jeffers both of Oneida, and Loman Jeffers of Cincinnati, Ohio; one sister: Mrs. Fannie Tuck of Loudon, Tennessee, one brother: Wayne Jeffers of Oneida, Tenn.; 55 grandchildren; 97 great grandchildren; and 11 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of other relatives and friends. Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, December 16th, at the West Oneida Baptist Church with Rev. Charlie Duncan and Rev. Malcolm Steely officiating. Burial will be in the Hazel Valley Cemetery. The body will be taken to the West Oneida Baptist Church at 4:00 p.m. Wednesday and lie-in-state until time of service.
