Robert J. Byler, 70, of LaGrange, died Friday, June 5, 2020, at his granddaughter's residence in Angola, IN.

He was born on April 29, 1950, in LaGrange, IN, to Archie and Maude (Miller) Byler.

Living his lifetime in LaGrange, Bob, was a 1968 graduate of Lakeland High School.

On June 2, 1973, he married Sarah Dawson in LaGrange. They just celebrated their 47th wedding anniversary. Sarah survives Bob in Hudson.

He worked for the Dometic Corporation in LaGrange for 38 years. He worked various jobs at Dometic but spent the majority of his time in the shipping department.

Bob had a love for baseball. He was involved in the development of the LaGrange Field of Dreams little league field and spent many years being a coach.

Along with his wife, Sarah, he is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and Gordan Frost of Elkhart, IN, and Bobbie Jo and Michael Bustos of Howe, IN; a son and daughter-in-law, Fred and Julie Byler of LaGrange, nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren, a sister; Louise Burkhead of Goshen, IN, and a brother and sister-in-law; Eldon and Pam Byler of LaGrange, IN.

Robert was preceded in death by his parents; two sisters, Lucille Torrance and Delta Basile; and four brothers, Richard Byler, Dave Byler, Sam Byler and Gaylord Byler.

Funeral services for Robert will be held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, June 9, 2020, at the Frurip-May Funeral Home, 309 West Michigan St., LaGrange, with the Rev. Russell Hepler officiating the service.

A viewing will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday from 12pm until service time.
