Normand Adrien Joseph Dacquay
September 9, 1936 ~ October 3, 2022 (age 86)

We regret to announce the peaceful passing of Normand Dacquay on Monday, October 3, 2022, at the St. Claude Pavilion at the age of 86 years.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife, two children with their spouses / partners, four grandchildren, as well as his four siblings and their spouses / partners, as well as his brother-in-law, and two sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was predeceased by his daughter Marina, parents Jeanne-Louise (nee Le Bris) and Jean-Marie Dacquay, sisters Hélène (Raynald), Odile, Evelyne and brothers, Hubert, René and Henri.

Normand was born in St. Claude, Manitoba and attended school in St. Claude. After completing school, he spent over a year working at the St. Léon Coop. He left St. Claude for Winnipeg where he attended Manitoba Technical Institute. In 1960, he returned to St. Claude and started his TV repairing business 'Dacquay's TV' for 45 years. He repaired and sold many radios, TVs and installed satellite dishes throughout most of southwestern MB. Many of his customers will have fond memories of dropping off TVs and other electronics at the Shop.

In 1967 Normand met the love of his life and married her in 1969. They lived in the same house on Jobin their entire marriage and raised their children. A family man first and foremost, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, never missing an opportunity to tease them or sneak them a snack. He was very close with all of his brothers and sisters and enjoyed many family reunions.

He served on various committees, including the St. Claude Hall committee, Chamber of Commerce. He loved his community and town of St. Claude and chose to spend his entire life and career there, helping out where he could.

An avid bird watcher and gardener, Normand will be most remembered for his patience, gentle manner, his smile, and the way he loved to tease his friends and family. He enjoyed travelling with friends and family and camping. He loved taking after-dinner drives to different towns for ice cream and to look at different points of interest. His afternoon routine often consisted of going for coffee at the Dacquay farm, talking with family, catching up and helping out with chores.

Many thanks to the St. Claude Pavilion staff for their care and compassion over the past 5 years.

Memorial Service will be held at the St. Claude Catholic Church on Saturday, October 15, 2022 at 1:00 p.m., followed by Funeral Mass at 1:30 p.m. with Father Peter Le Van Ngu officiating. Services will be recorded and available to view the following day here on Normand's obituary page. Interment will take place at the St. Claude Parish Cemetery.

As expressions of sympathy, donations may be made in Normand's memory to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba, 40 Royal Road North, Portage la Prairie MB R1N 1V1.

A tree will be planted in memory and cared for by McKenzies Portage Funeral Chapel.
