PORT HURON
Mr. Franklin Mearl Pemberton, 74, of Port Huron, went to be with the Lord on Sunday, February 3, 2008.
He was born November 26, 1933 in Port Huron to the late Jack and Mabel Pemberton.
He married Janet Armstrong on December 22, 1961 in Port Huron.
Mr. Pemberton was a brakeman and switchman for Grand Trunk Railroad for 33 years, retiring in 1995.
He served in the U.S. Army during World War II.
He was a member of Blue Water Christian Church.
He attended Spring Arbor College and was a member of their first place track and field team.
He also enjoyed softball for over 25 years and volunteered at Port Huron Hospital in the Spiritual Care department.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Janet; a daughter, Deb (Tim) Morley of Normal, Illinois; a son, Jim Pemberton of Kimball; three grandchildren, T.J., Jennifer, and Katelyn; four sisters, Eva Hofeling, Nancy Jackson, Barbara Post, and Betty King; two brothers, William Pemberton and Daniel (Diane) Beedon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Paul Daniel; and four siblings, Theodore "Teddy," John, Mary Margaret, and Evelyn.
Visitation will be 7-9 p.m. Wednesday and 3-5 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 8, 2008 in Pollock-Randall Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery. Military honors will be conducted under the auspices of the St. Clair County Allied Veterans.
