Ruby was born in northern Iredell County on May 24, 1925 to the late Vernie K. Shumaker and Ina McClain Shumaker.
Ruby was the widow of Oscar Lee Moore Jr., and the mother of their late son Jerry Lee Moore.
She is survived by her granddaughters, Erika Moore and Monika Moore (Eric), and three beloved great granddaughters, all of northern Virginia. In addition are her daughter-in-law, Jean Moore; sister, Polly Warren (Paul) and brother, Albert Shumaker. She was pre-deceased by two sisters, Mae Taylor and Dorothy Dishmond, and two brothers, Keiner Shoemaker and J.V. Shumaker.
Ruby was a hard-working woman, who loved her family dearly. After retiring from Uniglass Industries in Statesville, she worked with her husband as a poultry farmer. She loved to garden and found much pleasure in raising vegetables and flowers. Ruby also loved to cook and bake, and created wonderful coconut, strawberry, and chocolate pound cakes.
A visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 25, 2021, at 10:30 am with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 am at Bunch-Johnson Funeral Home Chapel. The family requests all guests wear masks due to COVID-19.
