Rick Williams, 66, passed away June 15, 2022 surrounded by his wife and children in Philadelphia PA.

Richard Keith Williams was born on October 5th, 1955, the only child of 'Chet' and 'Flo' Williams. He grew up in the Deer Park neighborhood of Cincinnati, OH. He raced go-karts in the US and Canadian circuits during middle school and high school and always maintained a love of racing. Rick married his high school sweetheart Tina Johnson in 1976. The following year he graduated with honors from Ohio State University's School of Journalism. Rick started out working on radio news programs then landed his dream job in 1982 at WPVI Channel 6 ABC in Philadelphia, PA. Rick would go on to work at "Action News" for almost four decades, producing and executive-producing multiple top-rated newscasts. He was very proud of his work, including mentoring many other journalists and being inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers Hall of Fame in 2017.

Rick was also very proud of his children Emily, Lydia, and Joel. He enjoyed driving the family down to Florida on vacations and swapping outrageous stories. They have many good memories of him cheering Joel on at basketball and baseball games, eating at favorite restaurants, and visiting the girls in Houston TX for Thanksgivings and rodeos. He was a devoted Ohio State Buckeyes fan, a master at lawn care, had a talent to fall asleep anywhere, and was an all-around "Dad". Rick attended church at Calvary Chapel of Philadelphia. In recent years Rick and Tina were deeply involved in the "Shoeboxes" charity Operation Christmas Child and enjoyed trips to national and state parks in their RV trailer. Rick retired in 2021 and planned to travel even more, but was diagnosed with esophageal cancer in December. He passed away as a result of complications from the chemotherapy. He will be greatly missed by his wife and family, neighbors, and friends.

Relatives, friends, and colleagues are invited to attend Rick's funeral service on Thursday, June 23, 2022 at 11:00 AM at Kirk & Nice Suburban Chapel, 333 County Line Road, Huntingdon Valley. Burial will follow at Whitemarsh Memorial Park. A viewing will be held on Thursday morning from 9:30 AM at the funeral home.
