Ruth D. McCandless, 97, Warminster, PA passed away peacefully on June 7, 2023. Born in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of the late Alexander and Lydia Dice.
Ruth graduated from Germantown High School in 1944 and worked for several years at Bell Telephone in the secretarial field. She married her husband Ed, a former WWII Air Corpsman in 1948. They soon moved to Abington, PA to raise their three children.
Ruth continued working in the administrative field including Hull Corporation and Unisys. After the death of her husband, Ruth became active in many organizations and clubs. She particularly enjoyed skiing, biking, and Scrabble which gave her many opportunities to travel near and far.
Ruth was a life-long active member of the Lutheran Church including Holy Trinity Lutheran in Abington where she was a member of the Miriam Circle.
Ruth's later years were spent at Ann's Choice in Warminster, PA where she thoroughly enjoyed the lifestyle, activities, and comradery. Ruth loved her family immensely and enjoyed any opportunity to spend time with them.
She is predeceased by her husband Edward (1979) and brothers Vernon and Nelson.
She is survived by her three children, Edward (Pam), Richard (Dianne), and Carolyn (Gary) and grandchildren Matthew, Brooke, Laura, Zachary, and Jacob. She also loved being "GG" to her seven great-grandchildren Aden, Isaac, Olivia, Nolan, Juliette, Camille, and Quentin.
Ruth also cherished her extended family including her many nieces and nephews and was always thankful for being included in their lives.
A Celebration of Life Service will be held for Ruth on Sunday, July 2nd, 2023 at 1 pm at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, Lycoming & Parkview, in Abington, PA.
