Samuel Gene Crockett passed away peacefully at home after a brief and devastating illness on Wednesday, July 1, 2020. Sam was born a treasured only child to Buell and Carrie Crockett (Maris) on December 25, 1939. He was raised on a farm in the small community of Millersburg, Indiana and graduated from Paoli High School in 1958. Sam attended Purdue University from 1958-59 and then enrolled at Lane Technical Institute in Indianapolis where he studied his life career of Drafting. In 1963, he married Rosalee Trimble of Paoli. They resided in Jasper, Indiana where Sam worked for the Kimball Piano Company. Sam was a member of the Air Force Reserve serving with the 434th Tactical Airlift Wing Division. In 1968, he moved to Bloomington, built his home on Cheryl Avenue and for the next 21 years he and Rosalee raised their children, Scott, Jann and Kelly. Sam worked for 27 years as a Draftsman and Drafting Manager at Westinghouse in Bloomington and in his later years at various stone companies in Bedford. He was a member of Lifeway Baptist church in Ellettsville and a member of the Stanford Masonic Lodge for 50 years. Sam was a kind, simple, non-materialistic man who loved watching Hoosier basketball with a big bowl of popcorn, mushroom hunting, mowing his yard and hunting quail with his dogs. He taught his children the values of hard work, family values and loyalty. He is survived by his three children Scott Crockett (Sadae), Jann Borgers (Mark) and Kelly Puffer (Reagan). His ashes will be spread adjacent to his son Mark David at Stampers Creek cemetery in Paoli Township, Orange County, Indiana. In lieu of gifts, we ask that donations be made to the Kasey Kasem Foundation, working to protect all senior adults from elder abuse www.kasemcares.org.
