Karen was born in West Warwick, the daughter of the late John and Hazel (Benson) Bailey. She was raised in Warwick, then became a resident of Cranston.
Besides her husband, she is survived by her brother Kenneth Bailey (Roberta) of Providence and sister Priscilla Bailey of North Scituate. She was the aunt of Christopher Bailey (Heather) and Susan Messier (Ernie).She was also the great aunt of Dan, Mark Messier and Ling Bailey.
Karen grew up on a dairy farm and won many awards as a member of the 4H club.
She graduated from Warwick Veterans Memorial High School and the former Katherine Gibbs School in Providence.
Karen worked for Brown University and recently retired from Bishop Hendricken High School.
Funeral services and burial were private.
