Stonington Glenna S. Aldrich, 94, passed peacefully the morning of Aug. 22, 2021. Glenna was born in Rockland, Maine to Sara Crockett Spofford and Arthur Spofford of Stonington, Maine. She graduated from Stonington High School in 1944 and went on to graduate from University of Maine with a degree in accounting. She moved to Boston for employment before returning to Stonington to help raise her brother, Wayne, following the death of her father. Glenna became a dedicated post master, first working in Freedom, Maine, moving onto Blue Hill and Stonington. She loved to dance and traveling to Florida in the winter. She loved all animals, especially her dogs, Katie and Honey. Glenna is survived by her daughter, Barbara Eaton and husband Michael; grandchildren Sara and Robert (Robbie), as well as her special nephew Jimmie Kinney, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Glenna was predeceased by her first husband Robert B. Gross, second husband Capt. Herbert (Buster) Aldrich and her brother Wayne Spofford. Glenna will be laid to rest at Greenwood Cemetery, Stonington, Maine. Graveside services will be held at a later date followed by a celebration of life.
