The condition of George L. Gurney, who is suffering from typhoid fever, is considered very critical. His brother, Frank Gurney, of Grand Crossing, near Chicago, is here; also his sister, Zella Gurney, who is captain of a corps of the Salvation Army near that city.

George L. Gurney, youngest son of Dr. Aaron Gurney, the editor of the Springfield News, died at Dr. Gurney's home on Adam street, Tuesday. He was 22 years and 8 months old and had been sick for about four weeks, the last two of which he was confined to his bed. He had been employed on the News with his father and was well known about the city as a young man of excellent habits, simple and natural mind and blameless character. The funeral will occur today from the house and the interment will take place at Oak Ridge cemetery. Dr. Gurney and his family have the hearty sympathy not only of the newspaper profession in this city, but a wide circle of friends in their affliction.

The funeral of George L. Gurney, youngest son of Dr. A. Gurney, of the Springfield Evening News, took place from the house on Adams street yesterday morning. The family had the assurance, in the large number who attended, that they are not without genuine sympathy in the hour of their affliction. The remains were conveyed to Oak Ridge cemetery and tenderly laid away in their last long resting place.
