Pulitzer Prize Winning Playwright. He will be remembered for his penning of the racially-charged story "A Soldier's Play" (1982) which earned him a Pulitzer Prize. There was a critically-acclaimed motion picture adaptation in 1984 titled "A Soldier's Story" and in 2020, Fuller received a Tony Award when the play hit the Broadway stage. He found his interest in books at an early age and would often find himself in the library during afternoons. After graduating from Roman Catholic High School, he enrolled at Villanova University prior to serving with the United States Army with who he was stationed in Japan and South Korea. Following his discharge, he attained his doctorate in Fine Arts from La Salle University and went on to co-established the Afro-American Arts Theatre in Philadelphia. He wrote his first play "The Village: A Party" in 1968 and over the next decade, he penned an additional half-dozen productions. He received an Obie Award for the off-Broadway play "Zooman and the Sign" (1982).
