Mary Ruth Shingleton, 78, Meeker died Friday in Oklahoma City. She was born in Meeker on July 5, 1924 to Venus R. and Annie Eliza Trent Armitage.

She was a long-time resident of the Meeker area and was a member of Mammoth Baptist Church. She married Knox Shingleton on September 18, 1945. She worked at Tinker Air Force Base as a machinist and clerk until her retirement.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Survivors include her husband, Knox Shingleton of Meeker, son, Charles E. Shingleton of Meeker, one brother and sister-in-law, Lee and Wilma Armitage of McLoud, sister and brother-in-law, Joan and Delbert Hubbell of Meeker, three grandchildren, one great-grandchild and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be at Parks Brothers Funeral Home in Prague. The casket will not be opened.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at Mammoth Baptist Church, Meeker, the Rev. Joe Sinko officiating. Burial will follow at Rossville Cemetery under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.

Memorials may be made to the Mammoth Baptist Church Building Fund or to Mercy Hospice, 4300 W. Memorial Road, Oklahoma City, OK 73120.
