A family statement read: "Not only was Penny an amazing and beautiful woman, she was also a wonderful daughter, wife, mother, sister, and best friend. Her real passion in life was her family and friends. Penny fought a long, hard battle and through it all she never once gave up. She even kept our family laughing when we were all sad. She was the strongest woman we've ever known. Her strength has inspired others. Even through her illness she was always thinking of other people and worrying about everyone being safe and having to drive so far to visit her. Penny's beautiful smile and big brown eyes would light up the room and keep us going. Penny enjoyed reading, sitting out by the pool with her family and taking trips to the casino, and she also enjoyed playing Candy Crush. Penny was very creative when it came to family fun, she would love making up games to play and dancing around the living room. Penny especially enjoyed spending time with her dog Maui and putting together jigsaw puzzles. All of her great memories will continue to bring joy to the hearts of those who remain. Penny is forever in our hearts."
