Daisy Jean Sass, age 84, of Wellston, passed away Friday, September 30, 2022, at her home. She was born May 26, 1938 in Leesburg, Ohio to the late Orville Estel Newman and Tawnie Ball Newman. Daisy retired from Ohio University, where she worked as a university cook for 15 years. Daisy loved taking care of her fur babies, as well as shopping, attending auctions, working word search puzzles, and faithfully getting her hair fixed every week. Daisy was also an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. She was a member of and attended Mt. Carmel Church. Daisy is survived by her husband of 22 years, Floyd W. Sass, Sr.; son and daughter-in-law, Orville "Butch" and Betty Cox of Hillsboro; step-daughters and sons-in-law, Bonnie and Michael Mullins of Vinton and Terri and Allen Wright of Wellston; step-son, Floyd W. Sass, Jr. of Wellston; brother and sister-in-law, John and Shirley Newman of Hillsboro; sister-in-law, Cheryl Newman of Highland; along with several grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Daisy was preceded in death by sons, Vernon Russell "Rusty" Cox and Timothy Michael "Tim" Cox; stepdaughter, April Wicker; and several brothers and sisters. Calling hours will be Tuesday, October 4th, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the McWilliams Funeral Home in Wellston. Funeral service will follow the calling hours at 1 p.m. with Rev.
