Obituary:

Jerome Martin, 56, passed away Wednesday, October 6, 2017 in Chattanooga.

Jerome Martin was born on August 1, 1961 to late Ruby and Rayfield Martin. He is preceded in death by his mother and father, Ruby and Rayfield Martin, his brother Lymorris Martin, grandparents Emma and George Jackson; one aunt, and seven uncles.

Left to cherish his memories are four sisters, Sophia Martin, Mary Ann Martin, Beverly Levett and Sonja Martin; three brothers, Raymond, Gregory Martin and Hugh Martin;; nephews, Milton Connally, David Martin, Terrance Connally, Sean Martin, and Ivan Washington; nieces, Dawn Connally, Terri Connally, Kenyada Martin, and Akilah Martin, Elise Martin and Christy Martin; uncles, Charter Jackson, Wiley Jackson and Theodis Jackson along with a host of cousins and friends.

Jerome graduated from City High School here in Chattanooga. His passion has always been food and his career choice was culinary field. He was the top chef at the Chattanooga Convention Trade Center when it opened their doors. He was also employed at the Chattanooga Choo-Choo, the Chattanoogan and as his health began to fail he took a slower pace and cooked at Erlanger Hospital until he could no longer cook on the level it required. That did not stop him from cooking at home and invite those he loved to come get a plate, he would tell you what was on the menu for Sunday dinner.

God so eloquently orchestrated his last few months with us, due to the tragic loss of his sibling. God brought his family together near and far, and those were the happiest and most joyful times that he experienced in a long time. He spoke for weeks about how he was so glad he was able to see everyone. With that being said, we the family would like to take this time to extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation to each of you for all of the many acts of kindness shown during the time or our bereavement,. Our spirits were lifted with each thought, words of kindness, calls and prayers. May God continue to bless each of you.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, October 14, 2017 in the chapel at John P. Franklin Funeral Home, 1101 Dodds Avenue, 622-9995.
