Roosevelt Gray

Roosevelt Gray Jr was born on January 21, 1972, to the late Roosevelt, Sr., and Freddie Gray. He was the second of three children.

Jr. joined Mount Olive M. B. Church at an early age and sang in the youth choir.

Jr. graduated from Thomastown Attendance Center in 1990. After graduation, he moved to Cleveland, OH; following his dad's brothers. He worked in serval manufacturing companies for years.

He started his trucking career in 2001 and remained until December 2021 when his health failed.

In 2006, he and Boo were driving for KK Trucking. One of their trucks would pull over on the side of the road, across the street from our house, and dad would know it was one or the other. He had a host of driving jobs with the ladder part of his driving career being in the oil field.

Jr. was well known for killing deer when he came home. He would sit for hours and hours, waiting on the deer to walk through. When one did walk through, he popped it. He would come in the house and say " mommy, I got you one." Mom would get so excited. He and Boo would also fish in their younger years. It was told that he loved to fish while in OH. When he would come home, he would always go to Fortune Mart and buy a fish-half filet and half whole. He would have a small fish fry almost every time he came home.

When having family or friend gatherings, he wanted to be the life of the party. If you were a drinker, he was going to get drunk, making you believe he was drinking too. And then, he would crack jokes on you. He believed in having a good time with family and friends.

During Jr's childhood years, cousins would come down from OH; and WI; and spend the summer at grandma's house. They would jump on him on a daily basis. Jr got smart and trained his special, dog, Raymond, to bark at them and pin them in a corner. He would get a GREAT laugh at seeing them scared. After that, and remembering what would happen if they jumped on him again, they played together without fighting;

On Friday, September 23, 2022, Jr. passed away with his companion, Tina Gipson, at his bedside.

Those left behind to cherish Jr's memories are one daughter, Olivia Elliott; his companion of 18 years, Tina Gipson; one sister, Fredrie; and one brother, Mckinzie (Tomeka).

Others left to cherish Jr's memories are nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
