George W.S. Wiseman was born October 29, 1852, and died at the home of Carry Watson, 5 miles southwest of Corydon early last Thursday morning, August 5, 1920, at age 67 years, 9 months, and 7 days. He was known as Scott Wiseman. His parents were Robert A. Wiseman and Catherine (Windell) Wiseman.
He was married to Melvina Gochenour on December 12, 1892. To this union were born 12 children. He leaves a companion and 9 children, Daniel R., Willard S., John G., Perry E., and Jesse L. Wiseman, Mrs. Cora A. (Lafe) Lasley, Mrs. Ella M. (Joe) Bliss, Mrs. Estella M. (Thomas) Miller, of this county, and Mrs. Mary C. (Charles) Kopp of Illinois (LaMoille). He also leaves 3 brothers and 1 sister: Joseph C., Robert L, and Mary E. Smoots of this county, and Solomon W. Wiseman of Mt. Vernon, Indiana, and 19 grandchildren.
A daughter, Mrs. Anna F. (Sherman) Longacre, and 2 infant sons, William C. and Omer A. preceded him in death. (No graves found for these three.)
The funeral was held at Fairview Church last Saturday morning, August 7. The remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near that church.
