Margaret G. Barker, age 94, of DeMotte, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, September 28, 2022 at Franciscan Health Crown Point.
Margaret was born in Valparaiso, Indiana on May 21, 1928, the daughter of Lloyd and Lucille (Bowman) Asher. She graduated from Hebron High School, Class of 1946 and went on to Cosmetology school. Margaret married Marvin "Corky" Barker on November 24, 1947 in Griffith, Indiana. He preceded her in death in April 2005. She was a self-employed hair stylist and also owned and operated the Lighthouse Restaurant in Hebron with Corky from 1967-1974. Margaret was a member of the DeMotte United Methodist church, the Eastern Star Hebron chapter, and the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing and making ditty wheelchair bags for disabled veterans.
Margaret is survived by her children: Sue (Don) Anderson of DeMotte, IN; Marvine Blanton of Wewahitchka, FL; Mark Barker of DeMotte, IN; 2 grandchildren: Melanie (Gavin) Bristol, Mark Barker Jr.; and 4 great-grandchildren: Zade, Austin, Kiley, and Khloe.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, one sister, and two brothers.
