Rachel Pate was born in 1838 and was the daughter of William Simpson Pate and Catherine Goodner. On May 24, 1856, Rachel married Kilby Walston in Ohio County, Indiana. After their marriage they had 10 children according to the censuses who were: Hattie, Theodore, Emma, Annabell, William, Maggie, Benjamin, Ida, Gilbert and Perry. Rachel died sometime between the 1880 census and when her husband married his 2nd wife, Susan Carpenter, in January 1884. Her place of burial is unknown.
