The son of Henry and Margaret Sheffield Bennett.The husband of Elizabeth Padgett. The father of: Martha Ann Bennett; Richard Bennett; John E. Bennett; Mary E. Bennett McLaughlin; Hiram Bennett; Henry Bennett; James Hamilton Bennett; Lavinia Bennett; Westberry Bennett; Margaret Bennett Kittles; Matilda Bennett Moody; Nancy bennett; Harriet Bennett Green Walden; Eliza Bennett Lightsey. Mr. Bennett came with his parents to Appling County in his youth and lived there in the 4th land district until his death in 1897. His home place was on lot of land 398, 4th district. He was placed in Wayne County when the 4th district was detached from Appling and added to Wayne about 1870. His so, Richard, was the administrator of his estate. On December 28, 1897, all the children as named, except Nancy, deceased, signed an agreement for the administrator, their brother, to divide the estate lands between them subject to their mother's dowry (see deed book "W" ppg 591-592, Wayne County). Westberry Bennett and his wife are buried in the Bennett Cemetery, Screven, Wayne County, Georgia.
