Joe O'Neal, pioneer resident of this section for the past 26 years, passed away at his home in Chelan Saturday at 11:15 am following a short acute illness. However, Mr. O'Neal, had been failing in health for the past three years.
Funeral services were held at the Christian church Monday afternoon, they being conducted by Rev. Thomas Foster, Cashmere, old friend of the O'Neals.
Mr. O'Neal was born in Bedford Co., Penn., 72 years ago. In 1896 he was married to Stella J. Beck and they lived for ten years in Coraopolis, Penn., for ten years where Mr. O'Neal engaged in the blacksmith business. In 1903 they moved to Lakeside and since that time he has operated a blacksmith shop here.
To mourn his passing there remains the widow, Mrs. O'Neal; four sons, Ray, Elmer, Burl and Loren of Chelan, and Mrs. Blanch McQuay, Torrance, Calif., besides 9 grandchildren.
