The staff of the Dickerson Genealogy & Local History Room want to share holdings from the Union County Public Library on sites that allow free access to all. This image is from the Kutaw Newgard estate and was donated to the Dickerson Room in March 2016. We believe this was taken at one of the Confederate Veteran reunions that Heath loved attending (he also enjoyed planning/arranging the trips for the group of veterans that would attend from Monroe). You may use this photo provided that you do not crop any of the identifying text from it.

Heath ("W.C.") was in the N. C. State Legislature in 1922 & 1925. He was instrumental in passing a revised pension law for the veterans that would allow the men of color who performed service during the Civil War to apply for a pension ("Class B") and also increase the amount of pensions for all veterans. The patron of the library has given permission for this image to be added to Heath's FaG record.
