David Almeida, 85, of Waialua, a retiree of Waialua Sugar Plantation and a part-time paniolo at Waialua Ranch, died Aug. 17, 1997 in Wahiawa General Hospital. Born in Koloa, Kauai, he is survived by sons Leslie D. "Les" and Leighton "Chuck"; daughter Edith "Tooty" Moniz; brother Joseph; sister Rosie Borges; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. Wake: 7 p.m. Thursday at Mililani Mortuary-Waipio, mauka chapel. Call 6-9 p.m. Private burial. Casual attire. [Honolulu Star-Bulletin, August 26, 1997]
