Homer Wesley Howell, son of Calvin and Rosa Howell, was born in Pratt, Kansas April 6, 1895. He married Garnet Mae Miller in 1913, who preceded him in death in 1965. To this union were born 2 daughters, Wanda Sidle who preceded him in death in 1970, and Rose Anna DeCamp Markland who resides in Greenville, Ohio. His only sister, Isa Juleta Harsh, preceded him in death in 1911. Besides the one living daughter there are 5 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, and one nephew, Cletus Harsh who resides in Phillipsburg, Ohio. In addition to 6 living step brothers and sisters, he is survived by a host of friends who mourn his passing.

Homer suffered for many years with diabetes, He entered Wayne Hospital, Greenville, Ohio several weeks ago for the removal of a limb. After surgery and severe complications he passed from this life at 2:15 Friday morning, August 13, 1971 at the age of 76 years, 4 months, and 7 days. The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away. Blessed be the name of the Lord.

Memorial services were held at the Storch Funeral Home, New Madison, Ohio on August 16, 1971. The Rev. Fred V. Brown, United Methodist Church, New Madison, Mr. Howell's pastor presided at the services. Interment was at the Lewisburg Cemetery, Lewisburg, Ohio.
