Funeral services for Mrs. Martin I. Gates, well-known Lewisburg woman, who died at her late home on Commerce Street last Thursday morning at 1:15 o'clock, were held Saturday afternoon in the local United Brethren church, with Rev. G. W. Snyder, the pastor, in charge. Burial was in Roselawn cemetery here. She had been ill for the past 14 months, suffering with a rheumatic and palsied condition.

Mrs. Gates, daughter of the late John and Polly Ozias Beam, was born on a farm northwest of Eaton, and spent all of her life in Preble County. She had resided in Lewisburg for the past 52 years and for the last 37 years in the home where she died. Her maiden name was Malinda Jane Beam.

The only immediate survivor is her husband.

Mrs. Gates died at the age of 80 years, 9 months and 16 days.
